Fremont County
Historic homes, new construction and acreage — shot properly, delivered by 9 a.m. the next business day. Flat $35 travel from Pueblo.
Fremont County is the market I'd most like more of, and it's also the one nobody seems to serve properly. Agents in Cañon City and Florence end up calling somebody in Colorado Springs or Pueblo who treats the drive as an inconvenience.
I don't. Cañon City is a flat $35 from my door and I'm out there regularly.
Within a few miles you'll go from a 1910 brick foursquare in town, to new construction on the edge of the valley, to a cabin on acreage, to a 5,000-square-foot house in Dawson Ranch. They don't photograph the same way and they shouldn't be shot the same way.
The historic homes in particular deserve time. High ceilings, original trim, odd room shapes, windows in awkward places — that's a lighting problem, not a point-and-shoot situation. I use flash and ambient blended so the trim reads true and the rooms don't turn orange.
Drone earns its money out here more than anywhere else I shoot. Lot lines, river frontage, the relationship between the house and the hills behind it — none of that reads from the ground.
Twilight also performs well on the properties with a view, and simulated twilight at $25 a photo gets you most of the way there without waiting on the light.
